Why not do both? Blair and Mike are expecting their first baby, so we combined an elopement and maternity photoshoot. For this Pleasure House Point elopement, you’ll find half elopement photos and half maternity photos. I personally love the combination! Bringing a new life into this world is something to be celebrated and so is finding the love of your life. Love and life deserve to be celebrated! I can’t wait to share their stunning photos, but first let’s chat a little about this elopement + maternity photoshoot.

Mike + Blair + Their Maternity Elopement Shoot

Mike + Blair are such down to earth and easy going people. They had the best senses of humor, and we laughed the entirety of their shoot. Their personalities complimented each other so well! It was such a joy to get to capture their love. They fully trusted me so we were able to play around a little with posing and location.

They were up for anything and even got in the water for some steamy shots. They definitely got bug bites after getting out of the water, but once you see the photos you’ll understand the necessity. When my couples are up for anything and willing to let loose, it’s always so much fun! Every photoshoot should be fun and kind of like a mini date with your lover!

We combined a few events and took maternity shots as well as photos for their elopement. It felt that much more special taking their elopement photos with their new baby able to be apart of all of them in this way!

Pleasure House Point

This shoot took place at Pleasure House Point. It’s a nature preserve in Virginia Beach with a lake and large open field. There is also a woodsy area, which you’ll see in the photos. I love this spot because you get the lake without the typical beach vibes. It’s more of an earthy and woodsy vibe. If you’re looking for a place to elope in Virginia Beach or for just a photoshoot spot but don’t want the typical beach vibes, I highly recommend Pleasure House Point.

Here are a couple of tips for this location. Park in the small parking lot and walk. There are tons of trails and the deeper you go the better the picturesque landscape gets. If there aren’t spots in the small parking lot, then park on the street next to the playground. Fair warning though, there are goat thorns so be careful going barefoot. You can go in the water for photos and even fish if that’s your thing!

If you plan to elope here or near here, it’s super close to hotels and the beach! The Cavelier Hotel would be my suggestion for a nearby hotel to stay at. They also have a spa! Can you say couples massage before you elope? There are lots of trendy bars and restaurants next to it as well as the Marriott with an outdoor infinity pool. Pleasure House Point is perfect for eloping or any of your next photoshoots!

Vendors

I, of course, did all the photographing, but my son came as my assistant for the first time! He captured all the behind the scenes, and it was so fun to get to show him what I do. Sarah Rust with Rust VB did the florals. Blair’s dress was from Altar’d State and her shoes were from Francesca’s, which is just proof that you don’t have to have a super expensive dress or accessories to look stunning on your elopement day!

If you’re looking for an elopement photographer or a maternity photographer in Virginia Beach (or San Diego starting 2023), I’d love to chat! Let’s celebrate this new chapter of your life!
