USS Mobile Bay Military Homecoming | Photos by a San Diego Photographer
This San Diego military homecoming was the perfect example of how unpredictable ship returns can be!
Gabriel was scheduled to return in the afternoon, which quickly changed to early morning the day before his arrival. I’m definitely sure Brianna and her son Grayson had no complaints about this though! I on the other hand, sped as quickly as possible to make it in time. There’s always some waiting that goes into military homecomings though, so I was still able to take plenty of the anticipation images that I love SO much. Thank goodness for military time.
Mom and baby boy were laughing and playing, and cheering with their signs held up so high. These photo sessions are always extremely emotional to attend, and you can seriously feel the heavy energy even outside in the fresh air. But, as soon as the ship pulls in, it all dissipates and you feel nothing but sweet relief.
I could sense it immediately, as I’m sure Brianna was more than ready to have her husband home. As a military spouse myself, I know how difficult deployments can be. Adding children into the mix creates even more stress. This family had plans to go to Disneyland to celebrate Gabriel’s birthday shortly afterwards, and I can only imagine how much carefree fun they had. The best part about having a San Diego military homecoming is pulling into port in one of the greatest vacation cities!
